Forefoot

nounStandard termMaritime

The lower forward section of a ship's hull where the stem joins the keel.

The lowest forward structural point of a vessel's hull, forming the transition between the vertical stem and the horizontal keel. It takes the brunt of the impact when a ship strikes a submerged object or runs aground. Its shape dictates how the vessel enters the water, influencing both wave-making resistance and directional stability.
