Berth

nounStandard termMaritime

A designated location at a port or anchorage where a vessel is secured.

This is the specific physical space along a quay, pier, or terminal where a ship ties up to load cargo, discharge passengers, or undergo repairs. Port authorities assign these spots based on the vessel's draft, length, and cargo type. The term also applies to the assigned sleeping quarters for a crew member aboard the ship.
