To secure a vessel in a specific location using lines, cables, or anchors.

To tie a ship to a pier, buoy, or dock using mooring lines, or to secure it offshore using two or more anchors. Unlike simply dropping a single anchor, mooring implies a highly controlled securing that restricts the vessel's swinging radius.
