OR gate

nounStandard termElectronics

A basic digital logic gate that outputs high if any of its inputs are high.

A fundamental combinatorial logic element whose output is true (logic 1) if at least one of its inputs is true. It implements logical disjunction. If all inputs are false (logic 0), the output remains false.

Heard on the job

Tie those two fault signals into an OR gate so either one can trigger the interrupt pin.

Do not mix it up with

  • XOR gate: An OR gate outputs high if ANY input is high, including both. An XOR gate outputs high only if EXACTLY one input is high.
