A stick is a single length of conduit as it comes from the supply house: 10 feet for EMT, rigid and most PVC, with 20-foot PVC lengths also sold. Material is ordered, carried and estimated in sticks, so a hundred-foot run is ten sticks plus couplings and bends. Rigid and IMC sticks come threaded on both ends with a coupling on one.
Bring up twelve sticks of three-quarter EMT and a box of couplings, the run to the roof is longer than the print shows.
