The bible is the electrical code book: in the US the National Electrical Code (NEC), and the equivalent national code elsewhere. Electricians tab, highlight and annotate their copy for exams and inspections, and disputes on site are settled by opening the book to an article and section number. A pocket reference full of tables and formulas often rides along beside it.
Don't argue with the inspector, open the bible to 314 and show him the box fill table.
