Gang box

nounShop talkElectricians

Big lockable steel chest that holds a crew's tools and material on a jobsite overnight.

A gang box is a heavy steel jobsite chest with a lockable lid, often on casters, where a crew keeps power tools, benders, small parts and paperwork. It is home base on site: the day starts with opening it and ends with loading it and locking up. Brand names such as Knaack and Jobox are used for it, and because a multi-gang electrical box is also sometimes called a gang box, context sorts out which one is meant.

Can you run down to the gang box and grab the half-inch bender and a box of quarter-twenty bolts?
