A coating defect in which wet paint recedes from tiny contaminated spots, usually oil, silicone, wax or grease, leaving round craters, often with a dot in the middle, that look like fish eyes. The coating cannot wet the contaminated spot because of its low surface energy. Solvent cleaning before blasting, clean compressed air and keeping silicone sprays off the job are the cures.
Heard on the job
