Sections of 4 in or 5 in steel pipe joined with quick-release clamp couplings, run from the pump outlet up a building core, onto a deck or across a long site where a boom cannot reach. It loses less pressure than rubber hose, so it carries concrete farther, and it ends in a flexible hose the hose man swings around. Every section has to be supported and clamped tight, because a coupling that lets go under pressure whips violently.
Run the slick line up the stair shaft to eight and bring the hose across, we'll pump the whole floor from the street.
