Tower

nounStandard termCeramics & Glass

A metal support stand used as a pivot point for a punty or blowpipe at a glass furnace.

A sturdy, free-standing metal rest positioned near the glory hole or furnace doors. It provides a fulcrum for the glassblower to rest the heavy steel pipe, reducing fatigue and allowing for smooth, continuous rotation of the glass while heating. It is essential when working with large, heavy gathers of glass.

Move the tower a few inches to the left so I have a better angle when I go in for this reheat.
