An ethylene glycol or propylene glycol base fluid mixed with distilled water to regulate engine temperatures. It prevents the cooling system from freezing solid in winter and boiling over in summer, while also coating internal water jackets with anti-corrosion inhibitors.
We need to flush the system and put fresh antifreeze in before the first freeze cracks the block.
