This specific fuel mixture combines 10 percent renewable biomass-derived diesel with 90 percent standard petroleum diesel. It provides a slight reduction in tailpipe emissions without requiring modifications to standard diesel fuel systems. Fleet managers and mechanics monitor its use because higher concentrations of biodiesel can degrade older rubber fuel lines, but a ten percent blend generally remains safe for standard engines.
Make sure the fleet is fueled with B10 during the summer months to keep our emissions targets on track.
Always check the manufacturer specifications before running biodiesel blends, as some older fuel injection systems are only rated for B5 or standard diesel.
