Angle brace

nounStandard termWoodworking

A diagonal structural member installed across the interior corner of a wooden frame.

A piece of timber or metal fixed diagonally across the right angle formed by two adjacent framing members. It locks the joint at exactly ninety degrees and prevents the frame from racking or shifting out of square under lateral loads. In timber framing, it often connects a post to a beam.

Cut a short angle brace for that corner so the wall doesn't rack while we stand it up.
