Shop term for vertical-up progression. The pool sits on solidified metal below it, so the welder can travel slower with more heat, getting deeper fusion and more fill per pass. Structural, pressure vessel and plant piping procedures mostly call for uphill on heavier sections, often with 7018 and a slight weave.
Everything on this job goes uphill, I don't care how fast you can run it down.
