Condition of a coating before finishing. As-sprayed surfaces are rough, from about 3 micrometers Ra on fine HVOF carbide to well over 10 on arc-sprayed metals, which suits nonslip and grip surfaces, abradables and some boiler tube coatings that are never finished. Thickness and roughness specs state whether they apply as-sprayed or after finishing, a frequent source of disputes between sprayer and machinist.
Print calls 0.010 minimum as-sprayed, not after grind, so don't take it to the machinist.
