A decorative or accidental thickened bunch of twisted yarn.

A distinct, tight bunch or tuft of fibers that creates a bump along a length of yarn. In novelty yarns, knops are intentionally spun into the strand for texture, while in standard spinning, they are considered defects caused by uneven drafting or tangling.
