Flotation collar

nounStandard termTextiles

A collar construction technique where the interlining is stitched directly to the fabric edges.

A method of tailoring a shirt collar where the interlining is cut to the exact shape of the collar and sewn into the edges rather than fused. This allows the collar fabric to move or float independently of the stiffener. It creates a softer, more natural roll and prevents the bubbling that often occurs over time with fused collars.
