Eyelash yarn

nounStandard termTextiles

A novelty yarn featuring a central thread with short, distinct strands protruding outward.

A type of novelty yarn constructed with a strong core thread that binds short, evenly spaced lengths of fiber that stick out at right angles. The resulting fabric has a furry, textured surface resembling false eyelashes. It is notoriously difficult to work with because the protruding fibers obscure the stitches.

Heard on the job

I had to count my rows by feel because the eyelash yarn completely hid the knit stitches.
