A Signed Response (SRES) is a 32-bit cryptographic value used during the authentication phase of GSM mobile networks. The network sends a random challenge number to the mobile device, which processes it through an algorithm using the secret key stored on the SIM. The device sends the resulting SRES back to the network, which verifies the math to authorize access.
Heard on the job
