Single Sideband (SSB) modulation strips away the carrier wave and one of the two sidebands found in standard AM radio. This concentrates all the transmitter power into a narrow slice of bandwidth, drastically increasing range and efficiency. Marine, aviation, and amateur radio operators rely on it for long-distance voice communication over high-frequency bands.
Switch the rig over to upper SSB so we can punch through this atmospheric noise and reach the coastal station.
