Parcels

nounShop talkRailroad

A dedicated train that carries mail, packages, and express freight rather than passengers or bulk commodities.

An older term for a fast express train running on a passenger schedule but carrying only mail, packaged goods, and less-than-carload freight. These trains typically used modified baggage cars or older passenger stock and were prioritized over heavy drag freight to ensure overnight delivery between major cities.
