A passenger car window that opens by sliding vertically down into the door frame.

A traditional style of railway carriage window that opens by being pushed downward into a pocket inside the door or wall. Common on older coaching stock, these windows allowed passengers to reach out and operate exterior door handles on cars that lacked interior latches.
