Detrain

verbStandard termRailroad

To exit or unload passengers and crew from a rail car.

Detraining is the process of passengers or crew disembarking from a train onto a platform or the right-of-way. In emergency situations or unscheduled stops, detraining requires specific safety protocols to ensure people do not step into an adjacent live track or fall on uneven ballast.
