An historic reproduction device that used a specialized stylus to punch microscopic holes into a prepared paper stencil. Once the stencil was cut, ink was forced through the perforations onto a blank sheet beneath it using a squeegee or roller. It was a precursor to the mimeograph and was primarily used for short-run office printing and circulars.
Heard on the job
The museum has a fully restored trypograph from the early days of stencil duplication.
