This specific piece of hardware connects a bucket or tub to the main hoisting rope or chain. It must bear the entire dynamic load of the filled container as it is accelerated up the shaft. Frequent inspection is critical, as any metal fatigue or failure here results in the load plummeting to the shaft bottom.
