Making the lightest possible contact, to find a surface, clean up a face or remove a burr without changing size. A kiss cut leaves a surface just cleaned up, often with a faint witness of the original surface showing. Grinder hands kiss a part to check the wheel is touching before feeding in.
Just kiss the face to clean it up, don't take a full pass, we need every thou of that length.
