A western Canadian word for completely done for. A hooped bearing grinds and smokes, a hooped part is scrap, and a hooped schedule is not going to be met. It spread through oilfield, logging and tool-teardown circles and is used for anything from a stripped thread to a whole job going sideways.
Spindle bearings are hooped, it's rumbling at idle, there's no point running another part on it.
