Rollback

nounShop talkLogistics

A specialized flatbed tow truck equipped with a hydraulically inclining bed and a winch.

Towing operators use a rollback to transport vehicles that cannot be dragged by their drive wheels. The entire flatbed slides backward and tilts down to ground level, creating a ramp. The operator then winches the disabled vehicle onto the bed, levels it, and secures it for transport without risking transmission or suspension damage.

Heard on the job
