Before each performance the board op steps through all channels or a dedicated check cue sequence while an electrician on stage confirms each fixture lights, holds its color and focus, and that nothing has been knocked. Dead lamps, burnt gel and shifted fixtures are fixed before the house opens. Moving lights get a separate check of positions, colors and gobos.
