One survey project area with its own registry number, limits and deliverables, treated as a single unit from planning to final report. The name comes from the smooth sheet, the large fair plot of a survey's soundings, and crews talk about sheet limits, closing out a sheet and which sheet a launch is working. A ship's field season often covers several sheets in the same region.
Launch 2 is finishing the inshore holidays on the north sheet, then moves to the new sheet Thursday.
