Wind getting under exposed panels can lift and fold them, tear seams and drag sheets across the site, so panels are ballasted along edges and open laps before the crew leaves. Bags are woven polypropylene filled with sand, never gravel or anything sharp. On big jobs, sandbag placement is on the end-of-day checklist.
Heard on the job
Wind's forecast at 30 tonight, so double the sandbags on the edges and every open lap.
Insider tip
Fill bags with sand only, and not too full; a gravel bag or a split bag on the sheet becomes the next hole.
