Crews talk about laying liner, the liner crew and liner going down, meaning the geomembrane panels. Engineers use the word more broadly for the whole barrier system, which may stack a geomembrane, a GCL and compacted clay. In the field it also names the trade itself, as in a liner contractor or liner season.
Liner crew is ahead of the dirt guys again, so we're sandbagging panels overnight.
