Duckfoot

nounShop talkFarming

A wide, shallow tillage point shaped like the webbed foot of a duck.

A type of cultivator sweep or plow share featuring a wide, flat, triangular blade that cuts horizontally just below the soil surface. It is designed to sever weed roots and loosen the topsoil without deeply turning or inverting the earth, helping to preserve soil moisture and reduce erosion.

Insider tip

Because they run shallow and wide, duckfoot sweeps are prone to dragging heavy field trash if the clearance is not set correctly.
