Touch screen

nounStandard termElectronics

An electronic visual display that detects the presence and location of a touch within its viewing area.

A layered display interface that registers physical contact from a finger or stylus. Industrial and consumer electronics usually rely on capacitive touch screens, which detect changes in an electrostatic field, or resistive touch screens, which respond to physical pressure closing a circuit between transparent layers.
