TTFT stands for transparent thin-film transistor, a field-effect transistor made from wide-bandgap semiconductor materials like indium gallium zinc oxide that allow visible light to pass through. They are deposited onto glass or clear plastic substrates to form the active matrix backplane for transparent OLED or LCD screens. This allows the display to overlay information on a window or lens without obstructing the user's view.
The new augmented reality visor relies on an array of TTFTs to keep the active matrix completely invisible when powered off.
