Junction

nounStandard termElectronics

The physical interface where two different materials or conductors meet.

In electronics, a junction is the boundary where two distinct materials make contact, most notably the P-N junction in semiconductors where p-type and n-type silicon meet. This interface creates a depletion region that gives diodes and transistors their rectifying and switching properties. In wiring, it simply refers to a node where multiple conductors tie together.

The thermal camera shows the device is failing because the junction temperature is exceeding 150 degrees.
