A chase nipple is a short male-threaded fitting with a thin hexagonal shoulder that sits flat inside one box, so its threads pass through the knockout into the next box, where a locknut or bushing secures it. It joins boxes back to back, ties fixtures into continuous rows and links enclosures mounted side by side, leaving a smooth opening for conductors. It sits lower and takes less room than a regular conduit nipple with two locknuts.
Put a chase nipple between the two disconnects and run the taps straight through, no gutter needed.
