The structural layer installed directly over joists to support the final walking surface.

A preliminary layer of sheathing or structural decking laid across the framing of a platform, roof, or bridge. It provides a continuous, rigid base that distributes loads and serves as the attachment substrate for the final exterior finishing materials, waterproofing membranes, or wear layers.
