Plug

nounStandard termBuilding

A wooden block inserted into a masonry wall to provide a solid anchor point for nails or screws.

A piece of wood driven tightly into a hole or joint in a brick, block, or stone wall. Carpenters use these inserts to create a secure fastening point for attaching baseboards, furring strips, or cabinetry to masonry surfaces where standard nails would not hold.
