Queen post

nounStandard termBuilding

One of a pair of vertical timber supports in a roof truss that span longer distances than a single central post.

A vertical tension member in a traditional timber roof truss. Unlike a king post truss which uses a single central pillar, a queen post truss uses two parallel posts spaced apart. This structural arrangement clears the center of the attic space and allows the truss to safely span wider buildings.

We need to inspect the mortise joints where the queen posts tie into the tie beam.
