In post-tensioned concrete construction, certain anchors and tendons are designed to allow technicians to re-apply hydraulic jacks and alter the tension load at a later stage. This capability is used to compensate for long-term concrete creep, shrinkage, or changes in structural loading. It requires specialized anchor heads that do not permanently lock the wedges on the first pull.
