Porte cochère

nounStandard termBuilding

A covered structure extending from the entrance of a building over an adjacent driveway.

A roofed porch-like structure large enough for vehicles to pass through, attached to the main entrance of a building. It is designed to allow passengers to enter and exit vehicles while protected from the weather. Unlike a carport, it is a pass-through element rather than a parking space.
