Cladder

nounStandard termBuilding

A specialized tradesperson who installs exterior finishing systems and protective facing on buildings.

This tradesperson fastens exterior panels, metal sheeting, or composite boards to the structural frame of a building. Their work seals the envelope against weather while providing the final architectural finish. They must align panels perfectly over large surface areas and manage complex waterproofing details around windows and joints.

Insider tip

A good cladder spends as much time checking the structural girts for plumb as they do hanging the actual panels, since any wave in the framing will telegraph through the finished wall.
