General aviation pilots wear this breathing device during high-altitude flights in unpressurized aircraft. It connects to an onboard oxygen cylinder and provides a continuous or pulse-dosed flow of gas directly to the nasal passages. It is preferred over full face masks for altitudes up to eighteen thousand feet because it allows the wearer to eat, drink, and communicate clearly on the radio.
