The chin is the underside of an aircraft's forward fuselage, located just below the radome or nose cone. This area is frequently used to house specialized equipment that requires an unobstructed forward or downward field of view, such as electro-optical targeting systems, weather radar, or chin turrets on military helicopters. On some piston aircraft, the chin houses the engine air intake.
