Trip meter

nounStandard termAutomotive

A resettable counter on the dashboard that tracks distance over a specific journey.

A secondary mileage readout within the instrument cluster that the driver can reset to zero at any time. It operates independently of the main odometer, which tracks total lifetime mileage. Drivers use it to measure the distance between two points, track fuel tank range, or follow turn-by-turn rally instructions.
