Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) is a bidirectional charging system that enables an electric vehicle to act as a mobile energy storage unit. When plugged in, the vehicle can draw power to charge its battery or supply stored electricity back to the municipal power grid during peak demand times. This helps stabilize the grid and can earn the vehicle owner money or energy credits.
The new charging station supports V2G, so the fleet can power the building during peak hours.
V2G requires both a compatible bidirectional onboard charger in the vehicle and a specialized wallbox.
