An internal combustion engine layout featuring cylinders arranged horizontally in two opposing banks. Because each opposing pair of pistons moves in and out together like a boxer punching their gloves, the primary forces cancel out, resulting in a naturally balanced, low-profile engine that lowers the vehicle's center of gravity.
Pulling the spark plugs on a boxer engine is always a pain because they're jammed right up against the frame rails.
