Waned

adjectiveStandard termWoodworking

Describing lumber that retains the rounded, bark-covered edge of the original log.

Characterizing a board or timber that has missing wood or bark left on its corners or edges. A waned piece of lumber has not been perfectly squared during the milling process, which reduces its usable width for standard joinery but provides a rustic appearance.
