After a window flange, metal flashing or edge metal is fastened, a strip of self-adhered membrane or flashing tape is applied over its edge and onto the adjacent WRB or roof membrane. The strips follow shingle order: jambs first, then the head strip lapping over them, while the sill flange stays unstripped so water in the pan can drain out. On roofs, strip-in plies seal the flange of edge metal to the membrane.
Strip in the jamb flanges first, then the head, and leave the sill flange loose so the pan can drain.
